Some months ago, at the instigation of the Heritage Council, a group was formed locally with a view to collating information on the general Quin area. We were encouraged to look at all aspects of the local community and terrain, with a view to getting the story of Quin between covers. Naming ourselves the Quin Heritage Group, we have been busy. In quite a short time a website and Facebook page have been set up and a half hour video highlighting some of the cultural aspects of Quin has been released. Interviews with older parish residents are ongoing and their stories feature in the website.
The attached Audit Report is the next phase in our programme. Within the report we touch on many facets of our community. At this early stage we seek only to introduce a broad range of local topics, with a view to revisiting them in the coming months. Please have a look and let us know what you think – access can be found by using link below. What surprised us most is the richness of our local place – ár muintir fein.
If you enjoy this report and is you feel that you have a contribution to make, we would heartily welcome you. We need more hands, hearts and heads. We are most grateful for the input and encouragement of the Heritage Council to date. Now it’s up to us.
