A Lasting Legacy

  • Thanks to the leadership, determination and guidance of Fr. Harry Brady, what may initially have appeared to be an impossible dream became a reality.
  • Today, “The Parish Church of Clooney, One Mile from Spancilhill”stands proudly as a lasting testament to the vision, commitment and generosity of the people of the parish, and to the exceptional leadership of Fr. Harry.

Fr. James O’Dwyer (RIP) help

  • Parish Priest in mid 1970’s who facilitated the sale of Wellpark and oversaw the sharing of the proceeds of the Sale between the Parishes of Quin Clooney and Maghera. Fr James started-off the building fund with a gift of €7,600 part of the proceeds of the sale of Wellpark, which generations before him, had given to the parish priest of Quin as part of their person income.

Future is looking Bright & Prosperous

  • Age profile of people living in community has evolved over the past 50 years new families are now taking up residence in the parish in significant numbers.

  • The story of the church is about much more than fundraising and construction. It is a story of faith, determination, community spirit and leadership—a powerful example of what can be achieved when people come together in pursuit of a shared vision
