The fairies are the supernatural beings that captured the imagination of Irish people for centuries. These mischievous creatures were feared and revered in equal measure.

The recently published book Irish Fairies – A Short History of the Sídhe, explains how every corner of Ireland retains a memory of the fairies – be it a cave, a hill, a tree, a lake or a fort.

The author is historian Michael Houlihan, a founder of the Quin Heritage Group in County Clare, who has long been interested in Irish cultural and folk traditions.
