Did you know that a huge hoard of gold ornaments was discovered in 1854 in Mooghaun Hill fort in Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co. Clare. It is reported that in March of 1854, workers constructing the Limerick and Ennis Railway unwittingly came across this treasure-trove of gold and it was nearly tossed into the nearby river.
